A connection to cloth and the ability to transform fabric into a garment has led to Jo forming a lifelong interest and appreciation of fashion design, textiles and costume.
Inspired by road signs and roadworks, Art & Industry provided Jo a challenge to experiment with unexpected materials as well as roadblocks that developed in the form of artistic paralysis.
“Exploring different techniques and contrasts with reflective tape, webbing and vinyl on tulle, has evolved to create lightness in a lace structure forming the silhouette of the final design. This process has been deeply personal, pushing my boundaries and questioning my artistic development, revealing in the costume and my personality, an overall delicate nature supported by inner strength. Forcing me to be truly reflective.”
