Ruth Gallant

Designer, Industrial Fashion

Ruth Gallant lives and works in Williamstown. Much earlier in life she trained in Fashion and Design, TAFE, Tasmania and worked as a pattern maker for a nightwear manufacturer and later taught patternmaking in TAFE.

Though now no longer in the industry, Ruth loves fabric, fixing and adjusting used and vintage clothing and homewares.

Intrigued by the opportunity to design a garment inspired by a building, Ruth collaborated with Karen Jenkins to interpret the Red Robin factory – a reminder of the era when so many of our day-to-day items were made right here in Melbourne.
